CLARA HUNTER KING

ABOUT (BIOGRAPHY)

Clara Hunter King was born and raised in Como, Mississippi. After high school, she migrated to Los Angeles, California, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at California State University at Los Angeles. She worked for a number of government agencies, including the Los Angeles Board of Education, Social Security Administration, and Internal Revenue Service. She moved to Atlanta, Georgia in May of 1979, where she earned her Juris Doctorate degree at John Marshall Law School.

When she began her practice as a criminal defense attorney, she was appalled by the number of young people entering the criminal justice system. She, along with four other attorneys and a private investigator, has written a series of short stories titled This Is Not Cool, Volumes I and II, that are based on cases they have handle in court and show clearly and directly, how one wrong decision can have lifetime consequences.

Her passion is to decrease the number of young people entering the criminal justice system. She is founder and president of Watchdogs For Justice, a non-profit organization founded specifically for that purpose.

What Readers Are Saying About The This Is Not Cool Series:

King's first books, This Is Not Cool, Volumes I and II, have been hailed as a tool for steming the tide of young people flowing into the criminal justice system. School teachers love the books, and many purchased them for their children, neices and nephews as birthday and Christmas gifts. -
