Clericalism as a Configuration of Normative Expectations - paper presented at the ARL

Apr 29, 2024

I presented my first academic paper at the Academy of Religious Leadership last week.

The conference was on the theme of moving beyond clericalism into more empowering models of religious leadership.  Having spent almost twenty years advocating for lay-led models of ministry in the Anglican Church, however, great ideas about new models of ministry do not always result in new leadership in real life.  My paper, Clericalism as a Configuration of Normative Expectations explores why clericalism's hold on the church can be so hard to break.
